When you select the
cheap calling card
, it is generally linked with additional hidden charges. You need to notice the hidden charges or else the phone card may turn out to be very expensive than what actually you know.
Below mentioned are some of the general hidden charges you need to come across:
Connection Fee:
It is also known as first-minute surcharge. It is charged when the call is made. It is going to vary from one phone card to other based on your selection (based on the destination). A connection fee is the extra fee forced by the mobile companies every time whenever you try to make use of your phone card for making call. During the call drop, if you need to redial the number, or if call is connected to voice mail or automatic answering machine etc., you will be charged for the connection fee again.
Disconnection Fees:
Be cautious with disconnection fee, it is similar to connection fee .It is charged when you hang up the call. This is also called as hang up fees.
Maintenance Fee:
Even without making a call maintenance fee is deducted from the phone card you have. This fee is charged on daily basis or weekly or monthly basis. For some of the phone cards maintenance fee is charged for the first call you made from the card or after the end of the first call. It may be high as $1,so better to check out.
Long Talking Fee:
Long talking fee is charged on some phone cards which is known to some customers. If the customer uses his phone card for making call more than 20 mins, for every 20 mins talking time 40 cents will be charged. Which is equivalent to 2 cents more per minute .
Multiple Minute Rounding:
Multiple Minute Rounding is nothing but you will be paid for more minutes than what actually you spoke. This is also an another kind of hidden fee on phone cards and calling cards. Means if your call duration is for 5 minutes and 40 seconds , but this will be charged as ten minutes. This kind of card should be avoided, incase if you plan to make regularly very long duration phone calls this would be beneficial.
Connections:
Many phone card companies use VOIP (Voice over internet protocol) circuits (bad quality).Frequently calls will have missing words, sudden disconnections and unbearable delays.
